Why is SAP Exchange Infrastructure (XI) not used now?

SAP Exchange Infrastructure had a lot of drawbacks and challenges at that time. The main drawback of SAP Exchange Infrastructure is its inefficient performance due to the increased number of communication between components. Message persistence got hit heavily and reduced performance due to dual-stack architecture and multiple components in SAP Exchange Infrastructure.
